Entry requirements:
There are no entry requirements for this qualification as per training.gov.au.
Australian National Education Institute’s Admission Requirements:
- Be 18 years or over.
- Be competent in written and spoken English with an IELTS Score of no less than 5.5 or equivalent language test score.
- Participate in a suitability interview prior to enrolment and be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm and ability to undertake this qualification, with the recommendation being made by the interviewer to the CEO and/or nominee who will make the final decision.
- It is also essential for the student to possess basic computer and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
Course Duration: 28 Weeks
This course runs for 28 weeks fulltime and includes self-directed study, holiday, and assessment time
Qualification Description
This nationally accredited qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community safety services settings in remote and other communities.
At this level, work takes place under the general direction of others and supervision may be direct or indirect. Workers in community safety services roles contribute to the safety and wellbeing of their communities.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
Completion requirements
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- A National Police Check.
- NDIS Check.
- Vaccination and health screenings.
- Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires, such as a first aid certificate
Be Prepared
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
- Ideally, a passion and desire to work within community safety services within remote and other communities.
- The ability to work unsupervised within your scope of practice.
- Good to excellent computer skills to be able to handle electronic records and documentation.
- A passion of empowering others and providing the best possible support.
- Experience working with vulnerable people in difficult situations and circumstances
Important information
Work placement
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
During your course you will undertake a mandatory 120 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.
ANEI will support you in arranging your work placement.
Assessments
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
- Knowledge assessments: short answer, extended response, research tasks, multiple-choice questions, case studies
- Skills assessments: projects, roleplays.
- Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving.

Employment Pathways:
The industry you will be working in is Community Services in Remote and other communities.
You may choose to work in the following roles: safety patrols, outreach services, community liaison, community support workers and support roles or community networking programs in relation to specific initiatives.
